ampEducator - Turnitin Integration Guide

Modified on Wed, 7 Dec, 2022 at 2:26 PM

This feature allows your Students to submit Assignments to ampEducator Courses via the ampEducator Student Portal and then be checked using the Turnitin plagiarism checking solution.

Step 1. Under Institution Config / Courses / Plagiarism you configure the Plagiarism Tools. For Turnitin you need to enter the credentials provided by your Turnitin representative and agree to the Turnitin EULA.

  1. Turnitin URL: provided by Turnitin.

  2. API secret: provided by Turnitin.

  3. EULA Agreement: Review the EULA agreement and click "I agree..."

  4. Index Submissions: Check this if you wish to Index Submissions. When a submission is indexed by Turnitin, it is made available for comparison in future Similarity Reports.

  5. View Settings: Exclusion Settings ie. exclude Quotes, Bibliography, etc.

Step 2. Once you configure under courses you can set Plagiarism Check when you add an assignment:

Step 3. If Plagiarism Check is enabled when a Student submits a docoument for an Assigment it is automatically sent:

Viewing a submitted Assignment will then provide more data related to the Plagiarism Check. The Plagiarism Check is not instant, it first processes a report and lets ampEducator know when it's done. Once it's done ampEducator downloads the report and updates the overall match %. The downloadable report has more details and there is a log for the whole interaction.

Note: The webook calls from the Plagiarism Provider (in this case Turnitin) are also recorded under User Jobs.
